How do marine animals communicate?

I chose this article because I love to learn about animals and decided to share how marine animals including whales and dolphins communicate through their environment. I found a few things that caught my attention in this article, one being that marine animals can use several combinations of complex noises, like clicks, whistles, and squeaks. Some whales even make sounds called songs which can last for 20 minutes and can change pitches from high to low.

This amazes me because when I think of an ocean I think of a peaceful, quiet place, but really it's filled with sound all around us. I do agree with this article because there has to be some way marine animals communicate and this seems very logical. Learning about animals and the way they communicate definitely make me want to learn more and more about this topic.

My topic affects the world because it is important to know that underwater machines, boats, submarines, and oil drilling are interfering with these animals communication towards each other. In the mix of all the noises their sonar gets mixed up and this can effect communities of dolphins or whales by separating them or putting them into harm. In the article, it was stated that the U.S Navy has taken that into consideration and turns off their sonar when they see marine animals visible or on a tracking machine.

I picked this article because it has so much information about what we have been talking about and also the video we watched on Thursday. What I found most interesting about this article was in a small box on the left middle side under "Use your Words" the side notes gave fun facts about a few languages, my favorite, for example was about the very first one involving the Russian language and how they have various words for different shades of the color blue and with that being said they have more of a precise indication of something that is a shade of blue when describing it.
I most definitely agree with this article mainly because it seems pretty factual but also because the facts about world wild language were incredibly amazing and captivating.
This article made me want to keep reading more and more into the subject and can not wait to post my next blog next week. The way that simple sentences are said differently in every language completely interests me. My article shows the world how different language is and that in its own way we mean the same thing just in different tenses or verbs.

My Intro

My name is Alexandria Celaya, I'm a 21 year old ambitious, curious, and  friendly person! My interests are learning about animals, writing, reading Cosmopolitan, and scrap booking. My hobbies include, traveling, spending time with my amazing boyfriend, getting drinks with my hilarious friends, and, of course, shopping! I speak Spanish but am hoping to improve enough to become an interpreter for the court system. I am taking this class not only to learn about languages in general (a passion of mine) but, also, to fulfill the requirements to receive my Spanish Certificate. Some experiences I've dealt with are traveling to another country and putting my Spanish to use because it was easier to understand than if I spoke English to the locals. Also, my whole life I have had to translate for my grandparents and aunts and feel that may have impacted my chosen future career. Hope everyone enjoys!
